He?s in process of selling his stake The New Mexico Stars of the Lone Star Football League are in the market for a new Coach. Chris Williams, who guided the Rio Rancho-based team through the first two seasons of its existence in 2012 and 2013, has left to join the Texas Revolution of the Indoor Football League. There, he will reunite with an old friend, owner Tommy Benezio, and be head Coach and director of football operations. ?This kind of came out of the blue, to be honest with you,? Williams said in a phone interview Friday. ?When the season ended, that?s when things started turning.? As Lone Star Commissioner Darlene Jones said: ?He received an offer he couldn?t refuse? to join a team in a higher-profile league that plays its games in Allen, Texas, just outside Dallas. The deal was finalized early this week. Williams and Benezio have teamed to have enormous success previously. From 2004-08, when Benezio owned the Odessa Roughnecks and Williams was the indoor team?s Coach, the squad had a 27-game winning streak and won an Intense Football League title in 2006. ?We just lost a pretty good Coach here,? Benezio said of Billy Back. ?He left to try to build another franchise.
